HELENE GALEK BIO
About Me: When I was five years old, I made my two biggest life decisions: I wanted to be an actor and live in NYC. I'm the hip baby boomer whose spirit has combined youthful energy with the wisdom of the years. Working on "both sides of the table" has been extremely gratifying. My writing muscle has been getting a workout as well, with a non-fiction book in the works. What I love most about this career is the creative process, the people I meet and work with and that every day is a brand new possibility! |

"Strong performances are given by Helene Galek,
who plays both the co-dependent wife in One in the Oven
and the husband-broker in the play of that title.
She brought life to both very different roles."

"Helene Galek gave a touching performance
as a mother touched by her child in Redemption Song,
and then became an overbearing,
deceased mother a few scenes later in Crystal Ball. "

"Overachievers Mr. Downer (William Kozy) and Mrs. Downer (Helene Galek)
can't fathom that their genes will produce a regular joe and as they go
through the stages of acceptance, their antics increase...
The cast is enthusiastic and spirited.
Parents of Typical Children is great fun for those who
perpetually want more and the ones who laugh at them."

"The tougher job falls to Helene Galek, as her friend in a box, Liz.
It's an all vocal performance, the only part of her visible throughout the piece is her lips.
With her scratchy voice, the cracks in her pitch and gravelly notes,
she manages to show us her entire range of emotions.
It's a tough thing to do, but she does it quite winningly."
