When Helene was 5 years old, she performed as a New Year’s Baby in her first dance recital to a packed auditorium in Albany, NY and was instantly hooked. The same year, she took her first trip to NYC and it was love at first sight. Helene’s life plan was launched!
Helene got her start in musical theatre playing a plethora of tap dancing sassy chorines in venues such as New London Barn in NH, Resorts International in AC, New Jersey and Pennsylvania dinner theaters. She is especially proud of being a part of the original "And Still I Rise" written and directed by the late, great Maya Angelou and produced by Amas Rep.
Helene has been part of the tribe of Manhattantheatresource since 2002 and has performed, produced and was the casting consultant for many shows. Although, the beloved West Village space is gone, Manhattantheatresource still lives on in various NYC venues. Helene performed in the special 15th anniversary of the Estrogenius Festival after casting several seasons.
She is also a member of BOO-Arts Productions and performed in their premiere production of "The House of Bernarda Alba" with Joy Franz. Helene also has done readings with many diverse companies including Mozzlestead, Abingdon Theater, Dramatists Guild, Goodly Rotten Apples, F.A.C.T. and Horse Trade Theater.
Helene was a past member of the Workshop Theater Company. One of her favorite experiences was playing the dual role of over-nurturing mother and hardened warrior in "Sugar Plum", written by Scott Sickles, a three time WGA Award nominee and two time Emmy Award nominee.
BlondeBrunetteRedhead Productions is her company that also partners her with the Blonde and Brunette, Cindy Keiter and Lory Henning respectively. In 2010, Helene and Cindy co-starred in a well-received Fringe Festival production of "Jen and Liz in Love" with Lory Henning as director. There are definite plans for further collaboration - this time with film.
Helene has worked extensively in sketch comedy, interactive theatre and role playing for many law schools and law firms. These experiences gave rise to many characters including slutty trailer park mom, bitchy divorcee, sexually repressed FBI agent, hippie therapist and tearful victim.
Although her start was on stage, Helene has branched out into the TV & film world with several short and full-length indie features, including a variety of web series, both scripted and improvised. Helene feels very "in" as she got to portray a loving zombie mom in an internet commercial! Helene also enjoys being on the other side of the table and has not only worked as a freelance casting director but also is on the producing team of her current web series- "That Reminds Me" - as well as the upcoming film, "The Kids Menu".
Helene is a consummate Pisces who believes that "Make Love Not War" is due for a comeback and relishes the fact that all her leading men have been younger than she is.
